Jireh Family Restaurant

In the Midwest we enjoy a family friendly atmosphere. My husband and I recently decided to check out the new Jireh Family Restaurant, located at 207 US-50, south of Loves. 
We were customers, but as a reporter, I was hoping to get a story. Our waiter, who we learned later was Kyle Tetrault, welcomed us and asked if we had been in before. 
When we said we had not, we asked him to suggest some of his favorites, so we ordered based on a couple of his recommendations. 
While waiting for our food, enjoying some chips and salsa, I noticed some young children, who I learned were Kyle and his wife Cintia’s.
It warmed my heart, having had our children helping us at the theater when they were young, knowing how these children were probably not enjoying their Saturday hanging out as much as I was watching them. 
Waiting for our food, visiting with Kyle, we soon realized their family had been to the theater, more than once. While living in Florida, Kyle worked at a theater, so we had a lot of similar interests.  
Jireh is truly a family owned and operated business. Chief cook and bottle washers are Maria and Carlos Vindel while their girls and their family commute on weekends to help their parents.
They serve Mexican, Honduran and American dishes. When asked what the cook’s favorite is, Maria replied, “Fajitas!” 
Vindels are no stranger to the food business, once operating a restaurant in Denver which closed on 9-11, after a decline in sales. 
But Maria still had that desire to open a restaurant. While visiting cousins in Holly, they learned of a restaurant building for rent in Syracuse. 
They first opened the thrift shop, housed in the south end of the restaurant in 2023. The thrift store is a ministry they have, benefiting another thrift store in Guatemala.
The school bus which sits in the parking lot, is used to transfer excess items to the thrift store in Guatemala. 
The restaurant opened in February 2024 as the Jireh Family Restaurant. The word Jireh is from the Bible to form the name Jehovah-Jireh, which means “The Lord will provide”. Cintia explained that her mother always liked the name because it referred to the Lord. 
Cintia and her family recently relocated from Florida then Denver and now spend every other weekend in Syracuse helping their parents, “This move literally points to my mom and dad, they are the beginning of the story!” said Cintia, “We wanted to be closer to family and help them.” 
The opposite weekend, Dalila and her daughter Amaris, come to Syracuse to help, “My parents don’t always have help, so we come on weekends during the busier time to help them.” 
While Maria and Carlos reside in the apartment connected to the restaurant and thrift store. Cintia, Kyle, their younger children Abigail and Ezra, commute from Parker one weekend, While Dalia and her daughter Amaris, commute the other weekend to help.  
During the week, Carlos and Maria operate the restaurant and thrift store on their own. Maria is thankful her home is only a few steps away, a quiet place to rest and relax, unlike the noise and busyness of Denver. 
Jireh is closed on Mondays, open Tuesday-Friday 10:30 am-7:30 pm, Saturday, 9:00 am-6:30 pm, and Sunday 8:00 am-7:30 pm. They are currently working to adjust hours based on their customers. 
Dalila said, “If someone comes in, you will be served, even if it’s closing time!” Cintia added, “No one will be turned away!”

The family wants the community to know they are here to serve the community through food and want to support community events. But most importantly, they want people to feel like they are coming into their home to be served some of their favorite foods.
