Kenneth Lee Roybal
Kenneth Lee Roybal was born in Raton, New Mexico on July 20, 1966 to Linda (Roybal) Mayhill. Kenny passed away September 7, 2021 at the Hamilton County Hospital in Syracuse, Kansas. He grew up in Syracuse and attended Syracuse High School and graduated in 1985. Kenny spent his youth working alongside his father, John Mayhill Sr, and taking interest in track and field.
Soon after graduation he started his military service as a sergeant in the United States Marines. After serving four years, he enlisted in the National’s Guard for two years. Upon his separation from the military, he proceeded to work as a hunting guide for Ungava Adventures in Quebec, Canada until 2001, when he fathered one child, Daniel, with former partner, Amy Burch. From there, he took over the family business from, Mayhill Tree Service, where he helped the community and worked with great passion until he passed.
Kenny enjoyed many things in his life including hunting, arrowhead hunting with his best friend Rick, and spending time in nature. He enjoyed helping others, and was a wonderful man who would would give the shirt off of his back if you were in need, he was a hard worker, but most of all he was a good father and took care of his son and many other individuals he considered his children and was a very big influence in their life. Kenny’s request was that we celebrate his life, not mourn his passing.
Kenny was Preceded in death by his father, John Mayhill Sr. and his mother, Linda (Roybal) Mayhill.
Kenny is survived by his son, Daniel Roybal of Hays, KS, his sister , Janice (& husband Jim) Gormly of Gillette, WY, his brother, John (& wife Vernice) Mayhill of Reserve, NM and his lifelong best friend, Rick Hayes of Syracuse, KS
A Graveside Service will be held at the Syracuse Kendall Cemetery in Kendall, Kansas on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 1:00 PM (MDT).
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM (MDT) at Fellers Funeral Home LLC, Syracuse, KS.
In-lieu-of-flowers memorial contributions may be payable to Kenny Roybal Memorial Fund, sent in care of Fellers Funeral Home & Monuments LLC, P.O. Box 1253, 401 N. Sumner, Syracuse, KS 6 7878. 620-384-5100
