Leopoldo Penaran Huerta
Leopoldo Penaran Huerta, 66, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2023 at his home in Coolidge, Kansas. Leopoldo was born November 9, 1956 in Urireo Guanajuato, Mexico the son of Salud Penaran Huerta & Maria Piedad Salinas.
During his childhood years he worked with his father farming and also planted flowers with his cousin. At the age of 17 he moved to Coolidge, Kansas where he continued farming and working for area ranchers. On January 15, 1991 he married Dolly Smith in Lamar, Colorado, they later divorced. At this time he became a father to one son and two daughters. On January 4, 1999 he married Mariana Rodriguez in Mexico, they later divorced. To this union two children were born, Leopoldo Alexis & Angela Cristina. He enjoyed the farm and ranch life working with cattle and putting up alfalfa. He worked for Kanco, Quentell Ranch, Keith Simon, and Haywire Farms. Every year he would go to Mexico for 2 or 3 months to visit family and would always return to Coolidge to resume his farming and ranching duties. He lived in Coolidge the most of his life and resided there until his passing.
Leopoldo is preceded in death by his father, Salud Penaran Huerta; his mother, Maria Piedad Salinas; his first wife, Dolly Ledesma; and his brother, Eugene Penaran Huerta
Leopoldo is survived by two sons, Leopoldo Alexis (& wife Bonilla) Penaran of Dallas, TX, and John (& wife Angela) Smith of Syracuse, KS; three daughters: Angela Penaran (& husband Misael Saluero) of Dallas, TX, Angelica (& husband George) Romero of Tucson, AZ, Martina Guevra (& husband Samuel Figueroa) of Syracuse, KS; three brothers, Luis Penaran of Florida, Gabriel Penaran of Texas, Nestor Penaran of Mexico
Three sisters: Juana Huerta Penaran of Syracuse, KS, Gloria Penaran Huerta of Mexico, Carman Penaran Huerta of Mexico, 13 Grandchildren, and two Great Grandchildren and one on the way.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm MST at Fellers Funeral Home LLC, 401 N. Sumner in Syracuse, KS.
Rosary & Mass Services was held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 9:00 AM (MST) at the St. Raphael Catholic Church in, Syracuse, KS. Interment followed in the Syracuse Cemetery, Syracuse.
