Loretta Marie Tyler
DODGE CITY – Loretta Marie Tyler, 71, died Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at her home in Dodge City
She was born June 28, 1949 at Lamar, Colorado, the daughter of Herbert and Clara (Sharrock) Schale. On September 7, 1978 she married Rev. William “Bill” Tyler at Syracuse, Kansas. She moved to Dodge City in 2008, previously living in Cimarron and Tribune. She was a cook at Greeley County Long Term Care and worked at the Ampride both in Tribune. She helped Bill with his carpentry work as well as being a preacher’s wife. She collected dolls and was a dog breeder and enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She was known for her homemade cinnamon rolls and her sense of humor.
She was a member of the Dodge City Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include: her son, Kenneth Tyler and wife Gwen, Holly, Colorado, her daughter, Kim Hensley, Dodge City; 2 step-sons, Arlin Tyler and wife Jeannie, Bethany, Oklahoma and Ardee Tyler and wife Penny, Arrow Rock, Missouri; a step-daughter, Tova Barnes and husband Dale, Syracuse, Kansas; close friend, Henry Brensing, Dodge City; 3 brothers, Alvin Schaleand wife Janie, Amarillo, Texas, Herbert Schale and wife Norma, Livingston, Texas and Joseph Schale and wife Shirley, Pratt, Kansas; 2 sisters, Shirley Eirhart, Lamar and Stella Parkison, Livingston; a grandson, Aaron Hensley and wife Amanda, 8 great grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren, William Hensley and Melissa Hensley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill on July 2, 2005, a step-son, Destal Tyler, a step-daughter, Wilva Malena VanGuilder and 3 brothers, Earl, Marvin and Albert Schale.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Monday, September 21, 2020 at the Dodge City Church of the Nazarene with Dr. Justin Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Dodge.Visitation will be Sunday, September 20, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
