Peggy Hatcher

 Peggy Dorine Hatcher, 88, of Syracuse, Kansas, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, at the Hamilton County Hospital. Peggy was born on January 23, 1938, on the family farm northwest of Holly, Colorado, to Leslie and Helen (Moyer). She was raised on the family farm near Hartman, Colorado, and attended school in Holly, graduating in 1956.

In her early years, Peggy raised her family on the ranch, where she also served as the ranch bookkeeper and was well known as the “harvest cook,” preparing countless meals for farmers during harvest. She later moved to Lamar, Colorado, where she worked at Conrad’s Dress Shop. Following the passing of her daughter-in-law, Kris Hatcher, Peggy relocated to Syracuse, Kansas, where she made her home until her passing.

Peggy was known for her kindness, humor, and generous spirit. She enjoyed all sports—especially football and basketball—and was an avid NFL fan, cheering on both the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs. She traveled extensively with Treg’s rodeos, creating many cherished memories along the way. The family spent many days together at Lamar Lake with family and friends, where Peggy especially enjoyed water skiing. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and was one of their biggest supporters. Peggy also enjoyed time with friends playing bridge and bowling.

She is survived by her children, Robin Verser and Tregory (Karey) Hatcher; grandchildren, Derrick (Kelli) Hatcher, Priceton (Erica) Hatcher, Kolbie (Brandon) Hess, Cody (Emily) Hatcher, Cory (Kelly) Hatcher, and Casey (Ellie) Hatcher; great-grandchildren, Savanah Hatcher, Allias Alfaro, Krislyn Hatcher, and Dryvor Hatcher (children of Derrick and Kelli); Rayden Hatcher (child of Priceton and Erica); Kaybrie Hatcher and Tryten Hess (children of Kolbie and Brandon); Hudson Hatcher, Hadley Hatcher, Hayes Hatcher, and Heston Hatcher (children of Cody and Emily); and Lyle Hatcher and Lou Hatcher (children of Cory and Kelly).  She is also survived by three great-great-grandchildren, Blythe, Rhett, and Daxton (children of Savanna); sisters, Dolores Tonozzi and Diane (Jim) Hatcher, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dolores shared that Peggy had been her best friend throughout her entire life—a bond they cherished deeply.

 She was preceded in death by Gary Hatcher, the father of her children; her parents, Leslie and Helen Moyer; son, Bart Hatcher; daughter-in-law, Kris Hatcher, sisters, Donna (Ralph) Roloson and Doris (Bill) Smith; brother-in-law, Tony Tonozzi;and brother, Leslie Richard, who passed away in infancy.

Peggy will be remembered for her deep love of family, her strong work ethic, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Hartman Cemetery in Hartman, Colorado, followed by a luncheon at the Pride Center in Holly, Colorado. All friends and family are invited to attend.
