William (Bill) George McManess, age 64, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 in Wichita, Kansas at Wesley Medical Center surrounded by his daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was born on December 14, 1959 in Wichita, Kansas to Charles (Chuck) Ray McManess and Karen Dean (Lewis) Hayzlett.

Bill lived in Cushing, Oklahoma as a young boy before moving to Rolla, Kansas in 1973. He loved playing basketball, baseball, and football and hanging out with his friends. His family moved to Syracuse, Kansas in the summer of 1976 where he graduated from high school in 1977. He worked for Roy Friesen at Roy's Jack & Jill's in Syracuse where he learned about the grocery store business and acquired butcher skills and a foundational knowledge of meat.

He met the love of his life, Roxanna Cathcart, from Holly, Colorado and they were married on May 18, 1979. They raised two daughters, Amy and Kari in Kinsley for a while before moving to Montezuma. Bill and Roxanna managed the grocery store in Montezuma, where the two enjoyed working together. They also enjoyed coaching the girls and watching them in all their school events. They made many lifelong friends while they were living in Montezuma whom they loved dearly.

Bill became a meat inspector with the USDA-FSIS and worked in Dodge City, and around Kansas for several years. Roxanna and Bill moved to Eagan, Minnesota in 2003 and then in 2015 they moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin. Over those years he became a mentor and supervised employees who became a part of his extended family. They retired and moved back to Dodge City in 2020 so they could be closer to their family. Bill's greatest joy in life was his wife, Roxanna who passed away April 3, 2021, his beautiful daughters and son-in-law, his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his loyal dogs all whom he loved with his whole heart.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Amy McManess and Kari Ingram and husband Marcell; grandchildren, Jailyn and husband Orlando, Halle, Quann, Talia, Sierra, Anyssa, and Noah; and two great grandchildren, Cristian & Oaklyn; a brother, John McManess and wife Lisa; sisters, Christy Kemp, Kim Schmidt and husband Rick, Carla Beasley, Tish Shade and husband Marc, Shannon Herring and husband Henry, and Irish Murray and husband Seth as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews.
