BENEFIT FOR BATCHELOR BATTLING ALS

Brandon Batchelor is a husband, father, and grandfather who was diagnosed with ALS. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a fatal neurodegenerative disease that causes the gradual loss of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. 
Batchelor, 45, and his wife, Melissa, have five children and two grandchildren.  He is a Mason, and has also given back to the community since moving here in 2008.
He served on the Hamilton County Fair Board, and spent time rebuilding and refurbishing ATVs to give them away to children who wouldn’t be able to afford them otherwise. 
But now the expenses are racking up. While he still works as the manager for the Skyland Grain Lydia elevator in Kearny County, he and his family have had to adapt rather quickly to a new lifestyle. 
With appointments in Kansas City, and limited capacity, a van was purchased that now needs a handicap accessible ramp. Their house needs upgrades as well. 
 This Saturday, November 9 at 5:00 PM at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds, a benefit is being held for Batchelor. A lasagna meal will be served along with a live auction and raffle. 
Proceeds from the auction will help with remodeling for handicap accessibility, medical travel expenses, and other needs associated with ALS.
