New Business Coming To Syracuse

thumbthumb

Bryan Bustillos, 1987 SHS graduate is opening a satellite office and distribution facility in Syracuse in 2020 for his business, Pro-Soil Ag Solutions Distribution, Inc. Amidst the struggles of American business in the wake of COVID-19, it is exciting news to report.

He is currently scouting locations at the moment and when up to speed should employ 15 to 20 people in Hamilton County.

I spoke with him over the phone as he is currently working with a hemp farm in Oregon. And his enthusiasm for his products is contagious.

While he travels home to visit family, he has been gone for 30 years. Bryan recalls his days in Syracuse well. “I still use the Home Economics lessons with cooking and sewing often.”

He was involved in football, basketball, baseball, track and cross country. His summers were spent custom harvesting with the Norton Harvest crew, working at the feedlot, and friends.

Bryan went on to Goodland Vo-Tech (Northwest Kansas Vocational Technical School and traveled the world. He has a professional Engineering degree and retired last year from B & A Wireless Consulting. That’s when he went in 100 percent  with Pro-Soil Ag Solutions.

“There are many challenges facing agriculture today.  Fortunately there is knowledge and products to address these situations. Salty water, falling well water levels and diminishing soil carbon levels all pose a threat to the future of production agriculture.

“We must make the necessary changes though if we don’t want the tracks to come to an abrupt end,” Bryan said.

He explained that soil biology has been a longtime topic of discussions with sometimes even vague understanding. Carbon governs moisture.  It also holds four times its weight in water and plant available nutrients.

“Imagine the water efficiency possibilities with both dryland and irrigation.  Carbon can be purchased but not physically or economically possible in the amounts needed for broad acre production. Carbon can be easily sequestered in the soil with good management and agronomy practices. Carbon is the key to production or lack thereof.“

Salt is both friend and foe of agriculture, without it there is no life and with excess there is also no life.  Salt is very important to life as all livestock producers well know and it just may be the secret of success for the livestock industry in the high plains. Salt is important for nutrient translocation across all cells membranes in plants and animals for life to thrive. So what about the excess?  This is where carbon sequestering and agronomy balance comes into play on the farm.

They will be offering Pro-Soil Ag solutions for biological products as well as cutting edge ocean soured calcium and ocean fertilizer minerals. And also offer agronomy knowledge to build out complete fertility programs.
