As soon as this paper goes out I am headed to get bloodwork drawn. So I am fasting which means no caffeine, which also means I can’t believe I am able to put words together or function well right now. LOL.
Spring has begun!
As I write this 40+ MPH winds are expected this afternoon.
In an area of extreme drought, this can be devastating.
My hands are dry, the street is dry, the fields are blowing. Yuck!
There are good chances of moisture coming this weekend - rain and snow.
Some people will blame me for not enough moisture because I wrote this in the paper.
We become superstitious about moisture here.
Don’t announce that it’s raining. Don’t post on social media.
Wash your vehicle, leave a window down, anything to make it rain!
In our house we are careful to not run the water in the sink more than necessary, and not to waste water in the shower by running it too long.
There was a movie a few years back called “The Book of Eli.”
I remember a scene where the main character was just looking for water and it was very hard to come by.
He said something to the effect of we spent our time focusing on the wrong things.
Basically, we focused our hearts and minds on money, fashion, and things that in the end weren’t as important as we thought they were.
Water, or lack of, is a huge part of our world.
Without it, crops don’t grow, animals can’t drink, and we perish.
I wonder how many people in cities understand that.
I wonder if they run their showers extra long.
I think about here too. How much do we take water for granted?
I drive around town and everything looks so dusty.
We just need a lot of good soaking rains.
But we need to be mindful too.
Is there anything you can do to conserve water? Maybe we think small conservation efforts don’t help, but I believe they do.
Isaiah 44:3 says, “For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.”
While that verse fills me with hope, it doesn’t mean we don’t do our part.
I have always believed that if you take one step towards God, He takes 10 towards you.
So where are you today with your faith?
I live in a town with a lot of faith filled people. But their faith gets a little shaky when it comes to believing it will rain enough.
Maybe we all stop for just a moment together, and ask God to pour out His blessing upon our dry and thirsty land.
And let’s wait expectantly like a small child waits for their birthday.
And if it doesn’t come at the right time, in the right measure, maybe we are growing our faith.
I leave you with Isaiah 58:11 - “The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”
I seriously can’t believe I got all this out without coffee.
