My grandpa used to say, “You eat a sour pickle, you get a sour puss.”
What’s your attitude this Christmas? Is it sad because you are missing family? Is it depression because it isn’t the Christmas you pictured?
For some this year is heavy. They have lost loved ones, or the pain is mighty wondering where their next check may come from.
I don’t have many childhodd memories of Christmas since we celebrated Hanukkah (Jewish festival of lights).
But the few memories I have are joyful and peaceful.
I recall the lights the music and the friendships. I remember as a kid driving around looking at the Christmas lights with my dad or watching the 1947 movie Miracle on 34th Street. I remember my childhood friend’s mom baking cookies listening to old time Christmas music. And I recall walking through the mall hearing Bruce Springsteen singing Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, or There’s something about Christmas time - Bryan Adams.
Maybe it’s the intentional looking for the good or seeking to help another that brings out the humanity in people.
There’s a skip in my step (mentally) lol. A real skip and I may need a chiropractor.
Somehow for a short time I forget the troubles of the world.
I may have said this before. My husband says I say it constantly lol. So I apologize in advance - I have spent the last year working to find the good, reporting the news as unbiased as I can and sharing as much joy as possible.
Yes I probably shared a few too many photos of my daughter but hey I am a proud mama.
Maybe we could have a proud mama section in the paper. Beginning in January, send an email with a proud mama/dad moment you have! I’m always willing to try something new.
For some people their joys are private. Not to be shared but kept as their own. I am not that. I want to share the joys, not to brag but to share hope. I want you all to have joy. I want it to run you over.
Knock and the door will be open. Seek and ye shall find. I find my hope in Jesus. And I will celebrate His birth these next few days.
If you are alone maybe this year is more intimate with Him. If you are with family, stop and notice what a gift that is.
It’s not about presents it’s not about toys. But I want to have the expectant spirit like a little kid getting a toy they dreamed of. Have a blessed and Merry Christmas. And for those who don’t celebrate I wish joy for you as well!
I am writing this as President Biden is being sworn in. Yes I am past my deadline. And I have so much I would like to say but a short space to say it. What is the state of our country? I don’t think we are at unity. When the ball on a pendulum is lifted and swung... [More]
