Sun is Shining Bright

I am writing this on the last day of January. The sun is shining bright which is a rarity lately. But I thought about how the sun shining with moisture on the ground is a completely different scenario than the sun shining when the ground is desperate for a drink.
That led me to ponder how our experiences tend to shape the present.
My 101 year old aunt passed away last week.
She was the last of a generation for my family. She truly loved life. She fought for things she believed in, worked hard, helped others, and loved music.
I am sad. But grateful she had such a beautiful life. Then I see the many obituaries we have this week and how a couple of them are younger than me. One of them is a 22 month old. And I am reminded of how much I don't understand the world at all.
Why does one get to live to 101 and another doesn't get to see his second birthday.
There is so much I don't understand and will never.  But the gravity of the amount of obituaries weighed on me.
I needed to find some joy, some humor, and expereience the sun on my face.
I took my dogs on a walk. My friend who I walk with was unavailable that morning.
It made a difference
The walk was longer. While it felt good to exercise, get sun on my face, and take some me time, it was also not as fun. I wanted to visit with her, laugh, complain, and discuss our world views.
Life is so much better when shared with loving family and good friends.
My lists of things to do continues to get longer. But I am quickly reminded that I better stop and find some fun before I can't anymore.
So when this paper goes out in about ten minutes, I am going to work at finding some fun.
I asked my husband if we could go to the ocean. He said sure, up here and pointed to my head. LOL
Sometimes you can't escape difficulties, sometimes you have to fight through them.
And when those sweet moments come, embrace them, drink them in.
Right now life is sheep and basketball for us. I am planning a sheep spring break, sales, clinics, road trips.
Right now life is not on a beach, it is with a livestock trailer in tow.  Or sitting on a bench at a basketball game watching my daughter and her team win some, learn some.
I wouldn't choose to be anywhere else. So for all the fears, worries, and hardships, I pray that you can find some joy today.
Seek it out, take a risk, try something new. We get today! Seize the moment!
Too much? HA.

Right Where I'm Supposed To Be

It's Okay To Fall Apart Sometimes

It's May! I had a rough end of April. And a lot of it was public. Some people ask why? Many people choose to keep it inside and put on a public face. I cannot. However I choose to use this challenge/gift for the good.  When my daughter showed livestock this weekend, she... [More]
