LOCAL 4-H YOUTH PLACE AT KANSAS STATE FAIR

The 2023 Kansas State Fair began September 8 and continues through September 17, 2023.
If you are headed there this weekend, you may want to check out the 4-H building where many local 4-H youth will have their work on display. 
To be eligible to take non animal exhibits to the Kansas State Fair, 4-H youth must be at least nine years old and have received a purple ribbon at their county fair.
K-State Research and Extension Agent Lora Horton said, “Neally Libertus’s cake was chosen for display in the 4-H building at the state fair.  Due to limited space, only the best perishable food entries are put on display.  The remainder of the perishable food entries are sold. Paige Haslett’s photograph has been selected for recognition and/or further display by the Kansas 4-H Foundation. Congratulations Neally and Paige for these distinguished honors!”
Patchwork and quilting awards include Andrew Kerr received a purple ribbon for his quilted pencil bag, Neally Libertus blue for her quilted pencil bag, Jace Kerr red for his quilted pencil bag, and Paige Haslett red for her quilted patchwork duffle bag, Bria Luebbers white for her quilted patchwork duffle bag. Neally Libertus received a red for her crocheted doily. 
In STEM - Robotics, Greydon Einspahr received a red for his robot. In visual arts, Andrew Kerr received a purple for his painted ceramic house, Greydon Einspahr received a blue for his decorated dice box, Paige Haslett blue for her dragon eye drawing, and Jozie Luebbers received a blue for her craft project - epoxy resin wood art. 
In photography, Mark Dupree, Kamila Pizano, Paige Haslett and Greydon Einspahr received purple ribbons for their photographs, Sandra Einspahr, Jozie Luebbers, and Zoey Sweet received blue ribbons.
Food and nutrition awards include Jozie Luebbers receiving a blue ribbon for her muffins, Andrew Kerr - Blue for his carrot cake,  Bria Luebbers- Red for her snack mix, Mia Boy - Red for her angel food cake, and Jace Kerr - Red for his quick bread cinnamon rolls. 
Mia Boy competed at the State Fair sheep shows. She made it to the semifinals in junior sheep showmanship. In the market lamb show, her hampshire placed 8th in the class, and her shropshire placed 10th. In the registered breeding ewe show, her shropshire placed third, hampshire placed sixth, and in the commercial breeding ewe show, her natural ewe placed tenth. 
 The Kansas State Fair has been the state’s largest gathering of Kansans since 1913. Stop by and see all the displays. 
Can’t get there? Come out Friday, October 13 at 502 N Main Street for Project Fair where many of the 4-H youth will have their projects on display, including live animals. You can ask questions, learn about how to join 4-H, and have a hot dog.
