A little bit of fall. A little bit of everything

It is the last day of October. I love the changing colors of the leaves. They stop me in my tracks. Absolutely  gorgeous! There is rain in the forecast. Even if it is a mist, I am ready for moisture!
  The clocks turn back on Sunday. It will be darker earlier and start to cool off. I know not everyone is a fan, but I like the cozier, cooler, hoodie weather.  Warm apple cider, decorating  for Christmas, and prepping for holidays all make me smile. 
  Basketball season has begun for my junior high girl. I have always enjoyed high school and college basketball. I have been to some home junior high games and liked watching the kids as they start honing their skills. 
  The election is here and I am very excited for it to be over. I appreciate competition as it makes candidates work harder but I hate the division it can cause in our community and the country. 
So to all that entered their name to run for office, good job. Not everyone has the courage to do that. 
  I also appreciate everyone who is voting. 
I am not public with my support as I believe we vote privately for a reason. 
I saw there is a big uproar about the Washington Post not endorsing a candidate and I understand this practice has gone on for many years. So there is controversy now. But, I don’t fully understand celebrity or newspaper endorsements of candidates. 
  In fact I wonder how elections would look if no one’s support was vocal. Instead of jumping on a bandwagon, we silently walked into the booth and voted for the person who we felt would do the best job. 
  As far as the presidential race, I voted. However unpopular my statement may be, I honestly don’t care for either candidate. 
I will leave my sentiment there. I guess that is me jumping on the bandwagon. LOL.  
  And as much as I look forward to the election being over, I am not ready for the commentary from the pundits or the media regardless of who wins. Everyone trying to pigeon hole people is so frustrating. Most people are trying to survive, trying to make a living. They are generally making the best decisions for their families. 
  I guess if I could say anything it would be to choose kindness. If someone didn’t vote the way you did, they most likely have a reason. 
Don’t take the bait of division. 
In the end, our community is still what we ultimately will work with to better our future. 
  And as November comes, so do sentiments of gratitude.  I will start. 
I am grateful to have elections. I am grateful people chose to run. I am grateful to all the teachers, paras, coaches, bus drivers, and staff that make our school safe and caring. 
  I am filled with gratitude for falling leaves, people who decorate their homes, and those who help the food pantry to give those less fortunate a hand up. 
  By the way, the trunk or treat on Main Street tonight would love you to bring a canned good or shelf stable food item this evening.
